Here's what we're checking out today:

Tobacco: The feds will require cigarette makers to post graphic anti-smoking images like the one to your left on packs of smokes starting next year. Here are more images the FDA is considering.

Journalism: Westword's Michael Roberts tells the backstory of how online news startup Colorado Public Media got a $386,250 foundation grant to strengthen health coverage in the state.

Health Costs: Alison Young's troubling tale in USA Today about a legal fight between Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Michigan and a rehabilitation company examines how complex and competitive relationships among health providers and payers make it difficult to control health care costs.

ER Crowding: Is this good news or less-than-bad news? The L.A. County-USC Medical Center, a safety-net hospital, has seen "dangerously overcrowded' conditions drop from an average of 16 hours a day to five hours a day, the Los Angeles Times' Molly Hennessy-Fiske reports.

Schizophrenia: David Dobbs reports for Nature magazine on the relationship between schizophrenia and adolescence.
