Sarah Arnquist

Sarah Arnquist, M.P.H.,  is a state director with Beacon Health Options, a behavioral health company that serves 48 million people across all 50 states and the United Kingdom. Her work focuses on designing and implementing innovative programs to deliver mental health and substance use services to people with public health insurance in California and Washington. Her experience includes working directly with top officials in California's Medi-Cal program, engaging stakeholders on divisive public policy issues and collaborating with international health care leaders to study successful models of health care delivery. She began her career as a newspaper reporter, covering health care and social welfare issues in California for the San Luis Obisbo Tribune and the Fairfield Daily Republic. She published in many outlets, including the New York Times and Harvard Business School Press, and won many journalism awards. She was a 2006 California Health Journalism Fellow.  She has a master’s degree in public health from Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health and a bachelor's degree from the University of St. Thomas, where she majored in journalism and Spanish.
